At least 14 candidates of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been reportedly abducted by suspected gunmen in Benue State.
According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred when attackers intercepted a commercial bus traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo, where the victims were scheduled to sit for their examinations on Thursday.
According to reports, the passengers—mostly young candidates—were on their way to the examination center when the assailants struck.
Confirming the development, Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Maxwell Ogiri, said security operatives have been mobilized to secure the victims’ release.
“The victims are young people heading to Otukpo to write JAMB. Security agents have been deployed, and efforts are ongoing to rescue them,” Ogiri stated.
