ADC crisis: INEC now department of APC—Dino Melaye

A former Kogi West senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of bias, alleging that the electoral body is now operating as an extension of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Melaye made the claim in a video shared on his X account, where he criticized INEC for what he described as a misinterpretation of a court order, warning that such actions have weakened public trust in the commission.

He called for accountability, insisting that those responsible for the alleged missteps should either be removed or voluntarily resign.

“We expect that the president will either sack them or they will step down themselves because INEC has misinterpreted the court order and shown clear partiality,” he said, adding that the commission’s conduct suggests it is aligned with the APC.

The remarks come amid rising tensions following a protest by ADC members at INEC’s headquarters over the party’s reported delisting.

The protest was led by key political figures, including David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, among others, who expressed dissatisfaction with the electoral body’s decision.
