The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died while receiving medical treatment in Cairo, Egypt.
In an official statement issued on Monday, April 6, 2026, the lawmaker was said to have passed away on Monday evening at a hospital in Cairo, where he had been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Zuru, who represented the Zuru constituency, was a prominent figure in Kebbi State politics and served as Speaker of the 10th Kebbi State House of Assembly. Popularly known as Lifiddan Zuru, he was widely respected for his leadership and influence within the state legislature.
His death has triggered an outpouring of grief across Kebbi State, with political allies, constituents, and residents expressing shock over the loss of the seasoned lawmaker.
