Popular Nigerian skitmaker Isaac Aloma, better known as Zicsaloma, has opened up about how pressure from family members slowed his journey to financial independence.
The comedian shared the revelation while discussing financial freedom in a recent video, where he stressed the importance of setting firm boundaries with friends and relatives.
According to Zicsaloma, family expectations and a sense of entitlement to his earnings caused several of his early business ventures to fail, despite his intentions to save and secure a better future.
“I did a lot of businesses while growing up, but most of them failed because of family. African families, even your own family, are very entitled to your wealth, even when the purpose of working is to save money and build a better future,” he said.
He advised young people seeking financial stability to prioritize their goals, even if it means being misunderstood.
Zicsaloma added that being financially firm—even with loved ones—is sometimes necessary to break cycles of dependency and achieve long-term success, noting that such decisions may attract criticism but are ultimately beneficial.
