Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has officially presented an appointment letter to prominent businessman Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that the movement, which is mobilizing support ahead of President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, recently named Obi Cubana to lead its activities in the South-East region.
The appointment, however, triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some netizens accusing the businessman of being insensitive to the hardship faced by many Nigerians.
Reacting to the backlash, Obi Cubana, in a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, defended his acceptance of the role. He stated that real and meaningful change can only be achieved through active participation and engagement, rather than staying on the sidelines.
He maintained that his involvement was driven by a desire to contribute positively and be part of efforts aimed at shaping the country’s future.
