Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has outlined key areas his team must get right when they face Nigeria in Wednesday night’s AFCON semi-final clash.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Regragui stressed the importance of concentration and winning individual battles across the pitch, warning that Nigeria would punish any mistakes.
The 50-year-old tactician noted that his players must avoid the lapses in focus seen in their previous match, particularly against Cameroon, and instead maintain intensity throughout the game.
“We need to stay focused and win our duels against Nigeria. We must not retreat like we did against Cameroon because they can punish us,” Regragui said during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
He added that Morocco must raise their performance level in the second half to prevent the Super Eagles from gaining momentum.
“We have to increase our intensity after the break, not give Nigeria space to breathe, and ensure they don’t impose their technical quality on the game,” he said.
Nigeria and Morocco both booked their places in the semi-finals after impressive victories, with the Super Eagles defeating Algeria, while the Atlas Lions edged past Ivory Coast.
