1. Windstorm, accompanied by torrential rainfall, has killed 4 persons and destroyed 1,637 mud houses in Yobe since May 9. Dr Muhammad Goje, Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), stated this to journalists in Damaturu on Thursday. He said that the disaster affected seven local government areas of Bursari, Damaturu, Fika, Fune, Gulani, Potiskum and Tarmuwa.

2. President Bola Tinubu has urged APC governors and new party chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, to prioritise progressive reforms and development, especially at the grassroots. The President gave the charge on Thursday during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party has shifted its National Elective Convention, originally planned for August, to November 2025. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday after the party’s 101st National Executive Committee meeting, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, announced that the convention will now take place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, instead of the previously announced venue, Kano.

4. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has pledged to transform the ruling party into a source of national pride and celebration. He expressed confidence that under his leadership, more Governors, Senators, and key opposition figures would be drawn into the APC, declaring that the 2027 general election is “a done deal for APC.”
