Trump announces Stephen Miller as new White House Chief of Staff, replaces Wiles after midterm election defeat

United States President Donald Trump has announced the replacement of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles with longtime adviser Stephen Miller following the Republican Party’s defeat in the November 3 midterm elections.

Trump announced the development on Friday through a post on his Truth Social platform, revealing that Wiles would be moved to another position within his political operation.

He said Wiles had performed exceptionally well in her role and would be reassigned to oversee political operations under the newly designated Trump Political Operation.

The BBC quoted Trump as describing Wiles’ performance as an “outstanding job” while confirming her transfer to the political outfit.

Miller, who is taking over the position, is a longtime Trump ally and a key figure behind the administration’s hardline immigration policies.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that the leadership change comes after Republicans suffered a major setback in the November 3 US midterm elections, losing control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate to the Democratic Party.

Reacting to the outcome, former United States President Barack Obama described the results as a rejection of Trump’s leadership by American voters.

However, Trump dismissed suggestions that the election outcome represented a loss of confidence in his presidency, insisting that the results did not mean Americans had rejected him.
