Bloomberg disclosed this in a detailed report on Saturday, a day after OPay officially rang the NYSE opening bell on Friday.
Nigerian Newsphere reports that OPay had priced its IPO at $19 per share, equivalent to approximately N29,650.
According to Grok, an AI-powered fact-checking tool on X, OPay priced its IPO at $19 per share, raising $304 million, and rang the NYSE bell. However, its shares did not commence trading on Friday.
Grok stated that the shares were initially indicated at between $16.25 and $16.75 before trading was halted pending news.
It added that reports from market sources and IPO Scoop indicated that the IPO had been postponed indefinitely, with at least one underwriter reportedly withdrawing.
However, Grok noted that OPay had yet to issue an official confirmation that the IPO had been fully withdrawn.
Earlier, OPay’s Co-Chief Executive Officer, Lars Boilesen, speaking on the IPO, said:
“What we started eight years ago on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, helping unbanked people gain access to banking services, has today made us the first Nigerian fintech company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.”
