Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has continued to face backlash after attacking rapper Erigga over his remarks about artistes who built their careers without financial support from their families.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that Erigga, on Wednesday, acknowledged and celebrated the efforts of musicians who have had to build their careers without family wealth.
Erigga wrote on X: “Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and have to grind for every single dollar they earn.”
Davido, who comes from a wealthy family background, quoted the post on his X handle while defending artistes born into privilege.
Mocking Erigga’s family background, Davido wrote in Pidgin English: “No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top. Comot here with that your useless motivation. Imbecile.”
The comment has since sparked reactions on social media, with several users accusing Davido of insecurity and having an inferiority complex.
