The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has given the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to ensure that the appeal filed by its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is listed and heard by the Court of Appeal.
IPOB issued the ultimatum in a video broadcast by its Head of the Directorate of State, Mazi Chris Nwaogu, on Monday.
The group demanded that the appellate court list and hear Kanu’s appeal within 14 days.
IPOB warned that it could boycott the 2027 general elections in the South-East and other areas it considers Biafraland if the Federal Government fails to facilitate the hearing of the appeal.
The group alleged that the Federal Government had failed to take necessary steps to move the appeal forward.
Specifically, IPOB accused the government of failing to file its respondent’s brief and take steps to have the matter listed before the Court of Appeal.
“The Federal Government has not filed a Respondent’s brief, they have not listed the appeal, they have not come to court.
“We are giving them 14 days to list Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal. If they refuse, we will consider boycotting the coming elections across Biafraland and beyond,” IPOB said.
The group’s latest position comes amid continued legal proceedings over Kanu’s case and growing calls for the appeal to be heard.
