Egypt have qualified for the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Sweden 4-2 on penalties in a dramatic Round of 32 encounter.
The Pharaohs held their nerve in the shootout after both sides were locked at 1-1 following extra time.
With neither team able to find a decisive goal during 120 minutes of action, the match was settled from the penalty spot, where Egypt converted four of their spot-kicks to eliminate Sweden and secure a place in the last 16.
Egypt will play Argentina or Cape Verde at the last 16.
