The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed appreciation to former Blanco, Texas, mayor Mike Arnold for his public support.
Kanu’s message was disclosed on Saturday by his legal counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, via a post on X.
Arnold had earlier criticized the Nigerian government, questioning Kanu’s continued detention while an Islamic cleric accused of placing a N1 million bounty on a pastor allegedly remains free. He described the situation as troubling and indicative of deeper national concerns.
Responding, Kanu thanked Arnold for what he described as a courageous effort to highlight the truth about him and the IPOB movement. He noted that such support was significant, adding that he often reflected on how events might have unfolded differently if more individuals had spoken out earlier.
In his message, Kanu assured Arnold of his backing, stating that both he and IPOB stand in solidarity with him, while also offering prayers for his well-being.
Kanu, who has been at the center of legal and political controversy, was sentenced to life imprisonment in November 2025 over terrorism-related charges
