A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly disclose the reasons behind the removal of former minister of finance, Wale Edun.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that President Tinubu on Tuesday relieved Edun of his duties and appointed Taiwo Oyedele as his replacement. However, the presidency has yet to provide an official explanation for the sudden cabinet reshuffle.
Reacting via his official Facebook page, Melaye questioned the rationale behind the decision, suggesting possible underlying issues. He also raised concerns over allegations of missing public funds.
He wrote, “Mr. President, when ministers are sacked in civilized climes, the government must explain why they are sacked.
“Was the minister of finance removed because he could not cover up the stolen 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? World Bank no dey lie, SDM.”
