Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has come under fire from fans following comments he made about former Anambra State governor Peter Obi.
Edochie, in a post shared Tuesday morning on his official X handle, claimed that Obi’s presidential ambition would not succeed, describing it as “dead on arrival.” He further alleged that any political party Obi aligns with would struggle, referencing his reported association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to the actor, Obi’s political efforts are a “total waste of time,” adding that the former governor is either unaware of the challenges ahead or has chosen to ignore them. He concluded by asserting that Obi “cannot be President of Nigeria now.”
The remarks quickly sparked outrage among social media users, many of whom flooded the comment section to criticize the actor’s stance. Several commenters questioned his credibility and took aim at his personal life and career, urging him to focus on his profession rather than political commentary.
The backlash highlights the sensitivity surrounding political discourse in Nigeria, particularly when it involves high-profile figures like Obi, whose supporters remain vocal online.
