Jose Mourinho could be on course for a sensational return to the Premier League, with reports linking him to a potential move to Newcastle United.
The Portuguese tactician, currently in charge of Benfica, has previously managed top English sides including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
After his spells in England, Mourinho went on to coach AS Roma and Fenerbahce before taking over at Benfica.
According to talkSPORT, the 63-year-old is admired by decision-makers at Newcastle and is being considered as a possible replacement for current manager Eddie Howe.
Howe is reportedly under increasing pressure at St. James’ Park following a dip in form, with the team struggling to secure consistent results. Despite lifting the Carabao Cup last season, Newcastle are enduring a difficult campaign and currently sit 14th in the league standings.
The club’s Saudi-backed owners are said to be targeting a high-profile managerial appointment ahead of next season, with former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini also emerging as a strong contender.
