Founder and Chairman of Chocolate City Entertainment, Audu Maikori, has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of persecuting him over a tweet he admitted was wrong and later deleted.
Maikori made the allegation on Monday while fielding questions during an interview on Prime Time, a program on Arise Television.
He alleged that the former governor organized his abduction, stressing that such actions should not be carried out by a sitting governor.
“El-Rufai persecuted me for a wrong tweet I acknowledged and took down. He organized for me to be abducted,” Maikori said.
“A governor shouldn’t do the job of the police. My driver confessed he had lied about the information he gave me.
“I was let go by the police, and the next weekend, El-Rufai was trying to link my tweet with the possible death of 7 people,” he added.
Maikori distinguished between prosecution and persecution, insisting that what he and others experienced under El-Rufai amounted to persecution rather than lawful prosecution.
