Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday joined protesters in Abuja calling for the real-time electronic transmission of election results.
The protest, tagged “Occupy National Assembly,” saw Nigerian youths converge on the National Assembly complex to express their opposition to the Senate’s rejection of mandatory e-transmission of election results.
The demonstrators insist that electronic transmission is crucial to enhancing transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
Also present at the protest was former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who joined the youths a day earlier in solidarity with their demands.
