President Bola Tinubu on Sunday night met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; and other political leaders from Rivers State at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
According to The Nation, the late-night meeting appears to signal a possible easing of the prolonged political tension in the oil-rich state.
Although details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, a source familiar with the development said Governor Fubara reportedly accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the meeting.
The source further claimed that Fubara appealed to the former Rivers governor, pledging to refrain from any action that could be interpreted as disrespectful going forward.
This comes amid a renewed rift between Wike and Fubara.
