The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have directed workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to resume work with immediate effect following the resolution of all outstanding issues with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The directive was contained in a joint letter signed by the TUC Secretary-General, Comrade N.A. Toro, and the NLC General Secretary, Comrade Benson Upah. The unions disclosed that the breakthrough followed a conciliatory meeting convened at the instance of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the FCT, Mohammed Bomoi.
According to the letter, the meeting with the FCT minister began at about 11:45 pm on Monday and ended at 3:51 am on Tuesday after extensive deliberations.
At the end of the discussions, it was agreed that no worker who participated in the strike would be victimized in any form. The parties also resolved that all cases currently before the industrial court would be withdrawn immediately.
The minister further assured organized labor of continued mutual engagement and respect in the handling of industrial relations going forward.
